1. Reliable (fiberglass) internet , and stable electrical supply
Many places, including ATMA, have already changed to a fiberglass connection. This means faster download- and upload speeds, and a more stable connection. Over the last few years outages have become more and more rare, and they are pretty much not happening at all anymore.
At ATMA we have a 300mb/s connection, with speedtests reading above 200mb/s download and 100mb/s upload. We use high quality, dual band access points operating over a dedicated OMADA router and controller.
2. Surfing 365 days of the year!
The waves in Huanchaco literally never stop. Flat days are non-existent and surfing in Huanchaco is just great. Read all about it here. So if you are a digital nomad who surfs, Huanchaco is your best option in Peru.
3. Huanchaco lo tiene TODO!
Huanchaco is just a lovely town with everything a digital nomad needs, close to a big city, and a happy mix of local life and tourism. There are many restaurants, vegetarian food, a great market with all the fruits and veggies, nightlife, and a happy mix of surfers, fishermen, tourists, expats, etc.. !! In Trujillo you can find anything else you might need (electronics, clothing, etc..).
4. A great climate
Huanchaco has spring+ temperatures most parts of the year with lots of sunshine. But never too hold or too cold. Perfect for a digital nomad to work comfortably in your own room, outside on the balcony, or however you prefer it. It never rains. In the summer months a fan is enough to keep you cool, and most time of the year there are no mosquitos or other nuisances.
5. Live cheap and healthy!
In Huanchaco you can find all the fruits and vegetables imaginable in the local market at low prices. Our hostel has a great kitchen you can use to prepare your own meals. Superfoods like maca, chia and lucuma are just normal foods here! : -) The climate is great for jogging, if you do not already surf every day! At ATMA we have daily yoga classes and you can use the yoga space for free in your own time. There are gyms, football fields, and sports clubs. The air is humid, good for the airways, skin and hair. There is no better surrounding for a healthy lifestyle for a digital nomad!!
6. ATMA; the hostel for nice people
If you decide to live in ATMA while you keep working online you can enjoy all the benefits of meeting other people, but still find a peaceful environment to work. Huanchaco doesn’t do late night activities and usually attracts wonderful people. You’ll have a great kitchen to cook your own foods, many of common areas to work or meet up with others, and a yoga studio for you to use any time you want. Our single rooms have a decent table and chair.
